Florida by camper with kids: our 2025 rental budget
US$2,708.16 for ten nights in our November 2025 rental budget, plus the other costs to include when comparing a camper with hotels.
We travelled through Florida with our children by camper in November 2025, between stays in Orlando and Miami Beach. For the ten-night rental, our trip budget listed US$2,708.16 — about US$270.82 per night before adding the other costs of the journey.
That is the rental figure from our November 2025 budget. It is not an all-in holiday price or a current rental quote.
What to budget for beyond the rental
Our spending notes also included campsites, fuel, gas, shopping and kayak outings. A camper budget needs room for those costs alongside the vehicle itself.
| Cost | How to include it in your comparison |
|---|---|
| Vehicle rental | Start with a quote for your dates and check its inclusions. |
| Campsites | Add the overnight stops separately unless they are included in your package. |
| Fuel and gas | Allow for driving and any gas charges outside the rental. |
| Food and supplies | Keep groceries separate from equipment bought for the camper. |
| Activities | Add outings such as kayaking to the holiday budget. |
When comparing a camper with hotels, use the same dates and include transport and food on both sides. The rental price alone will not tell you which trip costs less.
Where the camper fitted into our trip
Our journey combined New York, Orlando, the camper section and four nights in Miami Beach. We stayed in the Miami Beach apartment from 20 to 24 November 2025.
